Arrow HELP! How to animate like the annoying orange, (MOVING MOUTHS)

heyyyyyy guys!,

I have a new question for you.... well if you haven't seen this series on youtube before, here is a video,
but i was wondering.... how do you think they animated their mouths like that. I mean obviously its video over picture or video but how do you think they did it, any guesses? mine is that they taped his mouth, cropped it and turned down the opacity and brought the orange color up.... but ide love to hear what you have to say! THANK YOU!!!

Is a pretty easy comp job.
You have to stabilize your footage first.
You find a few points on your characters face and motion track it. Apply that data to your camera. Once thats done use feathered masks to comp over your fruit footage. Its not too hard.

Here you can see image texture showing through the edges of the mask so I'm guessing its a pretty quick job. Also think they did the eyes and mouth separately. Eyes and mouth slide a little too so not sure if they did actually stabilize the footage or not.

The fruit skin doesn't deform either which would've sold the idea better. I think I'd have shot a clean BG plate and used a still for the fruit. Then used the puppet tool in After Effects to deform the fruit a little to add a bit more life. The stabilized eyes and mouth would be in a comp with the fruit layer so would deform correctly with the fruit.

Would have been a fun job.
